PGA TOUR winner highlights NV5 Invitational Preview Day
GLENVIEW, Ill. – PGA TOUR winner Matt McCarty joined officials from NV5 and the Western Golf Association on Monday to preview the Korn Ferry Tour’s 2025 NV5 Invitational, set for July 24-27 at The Glen Club.
McCarty was named the unanimous Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year after a stellar 2024 season that included three wins within 35 days, earning him the No. 1 spot on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List. His dominant performance secured him full exemption for the 2025 PGA TOUR season, including entry into the 125th U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club later this week.
A current Chicago resident, McCarty discussed the significance of winning on the Korn Ferry Tour and its impact on a player’s journey to the PGA TOUR. He won the 2024 Black Desert Championship in just his second start as a PGA TOUR member.
“It was cool to see all the hard work pay off, especially when the game transfers from the Korn Ferry Tour to the PGA TOUR,” McCarty said. “My win at the Black Desert Championship last season was great for me, and it showed how similar the level of golf is between the two Tours. Good golf translates, and it’s really cool to see all of the guys I played with on Korn Ferry out here on the PGA TOUR.”
This season, McCarty has recorded five top-20 finishes in 16 PGA TOUR events, including four in a five-event stretch. He’s coming off a season-best performance, tying for fourth at the RBC Canadian Open at 16-under – his first top-5 finish of the year.
Tournament officials also announced that general admission for the NV5 Invitational will be complimentary, courtesy of a new partnership with the Big Ten Network. Golf fans interested in attending the NV5 Invitational can claim their tickets at nv5invitational.com/tickets.
Fans can also purchase upgraded tickets for the Trophy Club, a premium spectator venue with views of the critical par-3 17th hole.
All proceeds from the championship will benefit the Evans Scholars Foundation, which provides full tuition and housing scholarships to deserving caddies nationwide. During the 2024-25 academic year, 1,190 Evans Scholars were enrolled at 24 leading universities across the country, making it the largest group in the Foundation’s history.
At the preview event, Illinois Evans Scholar Bella Daley, a caddie from Oak Park Country Club, shared how caddying and earning the Evans Scholarship has impacted her life.
“Caddying was an experience like no other,” Daley said. “It taught me how to communicate effectively, become independent, manage my time and understand the fundamentals of golf. The memories I’ve made while caddying are ones I will cherish for the rest of my life. The Evans Scholarship has given me an opportunity to further my education. It has provided me with a meaningful way to give back to my parents, who have made so many sacrifices for me.”
